More about Vin...
I have two wonderful children that I work hard for each day. I spend all of my waking time with them. If more adults would spend time with their children I feel we would have less problems in the world. I left my job to make this dream a reality. I have an AS in Liberal arts, AS Business. BS in Human services with core work in Social Work. In 2009 I ran in the Boston Marathon. I was hurt at mile 6 and kept plodding along. It was the most pain and glory I have felt at one time. I am trying to make a small comeback but I am just in it for fun right now.

In January I wasn't walking well at all. I found a weight room at Champions for Life in Auburn. So I tried a week trial offer and then joined. After lifting weights I became stronger and eventually I was able to run hard again after 2 months on the treadmill. In April I joined the 1st Marathon training team.
1st Marathon-Coached by Marathon great Kevin Collins
I remember joining Kevin on the 1st day. I was 25 minutes late because of a detour and it was cold and wet. I was wondering maybe I wasn't right for his program. 2 months later I graduated from session #1. It was the hardest thing I ever did. Initially I couldn't even run a long run of 45 minutes and now I am at the 2 hour mark. I couldn't do speedwork for more than 7 minutes and now I can handle 15+ hard minutes. That and my workouts are all on hills! I encourage anyone who has the chance to join the 1st Marathon runners!
Favorite Moment of 2007: Finishing the Run 4 the Woods 4k and crossing through the tape for the 1st time ever. It was great to have my son see me finish and then run and pick him up. I also loved finishing at the Arc 1/2 marathon and my children running up to me!
2006: A learning Experience
In This year he was bit by the racing bug. Knee Problems still prevailed. The season ended quickly with a severe muscle and cartilage tear in his right knee. Though there were hard injuries he still had fun. He runs for charity and not to win. His favorite race was his fourth place finish in the Alyssa's Run in Cortland,NY. Ran a 20:04 in the race where he fell and injured his knee and finished 10th.(Got up after falling at start of race in rain.) Other races of mention were his age group winner/medals in the Oswego Vets Run, Christmas Time Run(injured), Falling leaves 5k, Alyssa's Run 5k, and others.
Favorite Race: Alyssa's Run 5k and ARC RACE!
Favorite Stay: Falling Leaves 5k Utica, NY
Hardest Race: Vets Run After Fall. Showed me what I was made of to run on a torn knee and finish.
Favorite Moment: Have my kids watch me win some awards.
2005: A Tough Year
He debuted 2 years ago with a tough 23:26, battling knee problems. He started running while training with his sister to get her ready for modified cross country. Then his first fall racing series started and he was hooked. After only 3 weeks of training on 05, Vin went on to place 9th in the Alyssa's Run and 4th in The Bville Turkey Trot 2 Miler with 4 age group winners. He was dedicated to run for his children, for who his inspiration was created.
Favorite Moment: Sprinting off the Starting Line in the Downtown Mile with my sister.
