Running & Walking Trails

CCC Nature Trail-Holland Stadium

Starting with Holland Stadium, home to 2006 State Champion Auburn Maroon Football.  Holland Stadium is also has a nice 1/4 mile track for running and walking.  If you follow along the back fence or go up behind Cayuga Community College, it eventually branches out into the Nature Trail area.  This is a nice mile complex that has many features.  Ponds, boarded walking trails, hidden letterboxes and much much more.  This is also a nice running trail with a large hill at the end of the mile for those hill runners.

Auburn Track Trail-
This trail is located behind the track at Auburn High School.
This is located across from the Emerson Park area.  Follow this trail all the way under the bridge to the Emerson Park Doville Side of the Island.

Weedsport-Port Byron Area

Canal Trail-  Many great pieces of the Canal Trail run through here.  Starting in Port Byron there is a major piece of it that starts at the Robert Shoasel Trail/park.  If you run/walk this, you will end up at the next piece of the Canal Trail in Weedsport.  This area was an old aqueduct.  This is a very nice site located right on route 31w.  When I ran this small piece of the Canal Trail I ran into turtles, rabbits, and many deer.

This is a picture of one of the Kiosks located at the Weedsport-Port Byron Canal Trail area. There is also a nice memorial for the veterans at this location. To get to this location stay on route 31 going W. about .5 miles after light in Weedsport.

Canal Trail- Arby's-  There is a nice couple pieces of the trail that start again behind the Arby's going towards Jordan.  I would estimate the first portion to be around .3 miles.  You will pass a small bridge with a waterfall on your right.  You will then come out onto the road.  Then you need to run down to the end of the road past the bus depot.  On your right you will find the next piece of the Canal Trail.  This piece will go on for around a 30 min walk.  Then you will come back out onto route 31.  You will cross the road and go into the next piece of the trail.  This trail is the trail that the Citizen Newspaper took the picture of the article about me on.  See picture for details.

This picture was taken by Jason Rearick of the Citizen.  This was part of an article called, "Running Man" by David Wilcox.  Click on picture to read article.  Anyways this trail pictured here is the 30 min walk portion going towards Jordan.  It then goes all the way to and through Jordan and brings you through some beautiful historic sites!  It is a must for any runner who wants to see great history when they run!
